Shibuya Sky is the open-air roof of the 229-meter Scramble Square tower, opened in 2019 directly above the station. A glass corner lets you look straight down at the Scramble Crossing; the rest of the deck has no railing in the sightline, just a low glass wall, a helipad-style lawn and a 360-degree view that takes in Yoyogi Park, the Shinjuku skyscrapers, the bay and, on good days, Mount Fuji.
It is the best paid view in Tokyo and the hardest ticket to get. Reserve online the moment the slot you want opens, aim for 45 minutes before sunset, and go up by the escalators through the 14th-floor entrance. The indoor floor below has a bar for when the wind gets too much.
Tips
- Book the sunset slot online two to three weeks ahead; same-day tickets rarely exist for that hour
- Bags, hats and tripods must go in the lockers; phones are allowed but on a strap in windy weather
- Stay through blue hour; the crossing below lights up and the Tokyo Tower and Skytree both appear
