Miyashita Park

宮下パーク

Miyashita Park is a 330-meter strip of lawn, skate park and climbing wall on top of a four-storey shopping mall, built in 2020 over a former park and a parking garage along the Yamanote tracks. It links Shibuya to Harajuku on foot, and the ground floor’s Shibuya Yokocho recreates a postwar drinking alley with food stalls organized by region of Japan, which is less cheesy than it sounds after two drinks.

Use it as a connector. Walk the roof from Shibuya toward Cat Street at sunset, stop at the park’s edge for the view of trains passing below, and drop into the Yokocho when you are hungry. The shops are mostly streetwear flagships, including a large Kith, which makes it a tidier alternative to the back alleys of Udagawacho.

Tips
  • The rooftop skate park and bouldering wall need a booking, but the lawn and the Starbucks terrace are free
  • Shibuya Yokocho on the ground floor is a modern food alley with regional Japanese cuisines, open until late
  • The south block has the sneaker and streetwear shops; the north block has the hotel and its rooftop bar
